Xtremlive HD/SD Digital Field Recorder with Broadcast Live Production

XtremLive delivers real-time, multi-format video and audio capture for today’s highest-performance environments, supporting HD, 4K, 8K, and 12K RAW uncompressed inputs. Its advanced processing system enables direct-to-disk recording with integrated real-time encoding. multi-format XtremLive provides immediate broadcast-ready proxy streams for live transmission, live editing during capture, and seamless network broadcasting or delayed playback. It supports simultaneous real-time encoding into QuickTime, MPEG, Flash, and additional formats—without limitation on the number of concurrent encodes—while preserving all Edit Decision List (EDL) metadata for streamlined post-production workflows.

Built for mission-critical applications, XtremLive maximizes speed, efficiency, and creative flexibility from capture/delivery.

Proxy files are generated in real-time by the GVS9000 VTR system and broadcast live over the web for immediate preview. Simultaneously, the original high-resolution content—captured in HD, 4K, or higher formats—is recorded on the GVS9000 1XU VTR, which writes to fully redundant drives. One drive remains in the unit for archival or playback, while the mirrored drive is shipped directly to the post-production facility. Proxy files can also be saved to removable media, shared network storage, or distributed live via the web for collaborative review and editing.

Features

  • Multi-Format Recording:
Record directly into AVI, Cineon, DPX, JPEG, IMX, QuickTime, MXF, or Windows Media formats, with content available either during capture or immediately after recording completes.

  • Live EDL Tagging for Post Integration:
Enter Edit Decision List (EDL) data live during events for instant import into Final Cut Pro, Avid, Adobe Premiere, or other leading NLE platforms.

  • Remote VTR Control Over LAN:
Manage all connected GVS9000 VTR units via a centralized controller from any laptop on the LAN.

  • Real-Time Capture Preview:
Instantly preview footage being captured across each recorder from a central interface.

  • Synchronized Recording:
Trigger one to eight GVS9000 VTR disk recorders simultaneously with a single command.

  • Accurate Timecode Embedding:
Supports LTC or RS-422 (9-pin) timecode stamping, selectable via the VTR's video control menu.

  • Live Metadata Capture:
Record full metadata (EDL) during live shoots for streamlined integration with Avid, AutoDesk Flame, Adobe Premiere, and Final Cut Pro workflows.

  • Network-Based Proxy Distribution:
Proxy files generated by the GVS9000 2XU 444 VTR are instantly redirected across the SAN or Gigabit Ethernet network for collaborative access and review.

GVS XtremLive is a real-time capture and processing system that seamlessly adds high-performance multi-format video and audio encoding to any professional workflow. With built-in SDI and customizable interface options, XtremLive integrates directly into your production pipeline—supporting live encoding, streaming, and preview with minimal latency.

Whether your target platform is a network-connected Windows, macOS, or Linux system, a broadband set-top box, or a wireless device running a proprietary OS, XtremLive delivers uncompromised video quality across all resolutions up to 12K. Its real-time encoder supports a wide range of formats and bitrates, ensuring your content reaches every screen—from high-end post suites to mobile viewers—with maximum fidelity and efficiency.

The XtremLive System (XLS) features an advanced temporal noise processing technology known as Motion-Adaptive 3D Noise Reduction. This method analyzes multiple video frames on a pixel-by-pixel basis, dynamically adjusting the level of noise reduction applied to each pixel based on motion and luminance data. Unlike conventional approaches, this technique significantly reduces noise without introducing motion blur or ghosting artifacts.

For ultra-high-end workflows, XtremLive also supports RAW, uncompressed frame-by-frame recording, delivering pixel-accurate media with the highest fidelity possible—ideal for HD, 4K, 8K, and 12K productions where preserving original image integrity is mission-critical.

The secret behind XtremLive’s real-time proxy encoding lies in the powerful Media Processing Engine (MPE)—GVS’s proprietary blend of high-precision video and audio preprocessing filters, seamlessly integrated into the GVS9000 VTR hardware and software stack.

The XtremLive System is available in custom configurations, ranging from single-channel analog setups to dual-channel digital SDI pipelines supporting 2K, 4:2:2, and 4:4:4 workflows. At the high end, XtremLive delivers dual-channel video processing alongside up to 8 channels of audio, giving production teams powerful flexibility for even the most demanding applications.

Each video channel features industry-leading technologies like motion-adaptive deinterlacing and 3D noise reduction, enabling higher resolution, bandwidth-efficient, progressive scan video. On the audio side, each channel is equipped with dual 7-band parametric EQ and advanced dynamic range compression/expansion—ensuring crystal-clear delivery of every word and sound.

The XtremLive option for the GVS9000 VTR provides a single, intuitive interface to create multiple real-time proxy formats. With just a few clicks, users can encode and deliver content across the globe—live, on demand, and at the highest possible quality.
